Tony Benn
Three generations of Benn's in Parliament
By editor - Posted on October 7th, 2007
In the midst of Conference season it was announced that Tony Benn was thinking of standing for Parliament again. Watch out Malcolm Rifkind - I think he wants your seat!
Now as someone who was Chairman of the Conservative Party in Chesterfield when he was an MP I can think of nothing worse than having Hilary Benn in Parliament, Tony standing again, and now of course we learn his granddaughter has already got a seat to fight (against Tim Loughton if I remember correctly).
Has there ever been another incidence of three generations from the same family fighting in an election?
A small mischievous part of me would be amused to see him become an even bigger thorn in his own party's side from their own benches, however unlikely that is!
