Unions pulling Labour's strings

So the Unions got their man as Labour party leader. The Union votes stopped Lord Prescott becoming Treasurer of the Party. Without Union money the Labour party would essentially be more or less bankrupt. And now…. the second most senior position in the Shadow Cabinet, that of Shadow Chancellor goes to former leader of the CWU, Alan Johnson. Blairite or not Johnson has Union pedigree.

What odds on there being a 3 line whip for Labour to vote against any private money for Royal Mail (a policy advocated previously by the party by Mandelson). Of course that U-turn will have nothing o do with the views of the Unions. No, of course not.
